Host a House Party » Invite Your Friends » Screen Born Into Brothels » Raise Money & Awareness » Make a Direct Impact
Thank you for your interest in learning how you can make a difference in the lives of more children like those portrayed in Born into Brothels. This is the most direct way viewers like you can to help to break the cycle of poverty. Every day these girls live in danger and squalor. Every day until the day we make change happen together.
People often ask how they can help, and we have found there is no more personal and effective way than by screening Born into Brothels and hosting your own "House Party for Hope." We will prepare you with all the information you'll need to make your party a success. All we need from you is your commitment to host, to invite your friends to join you to watch Born Into Brothels and to ask them make a small contribution to build Hope House. Host the movie night in your home, community center, school, house of worship or other local venue.
On October 2, 2009, 75 hosts held house parties around the world did just that - and raised more than $25,000 for Hope House. That $25,000 dollars will be matched dollar for dollar by a $250,000 Hope House matching grant we were recently awarded from the Vista Hermosa Foundation - totaling $50,000 towards our campaign!
Any funds you raise or contribute to Hope House will be doubled through this match - an incredible way to leverage the support of your friends, family, colleagues or community members who attend your event! Please help us to make our dream of completing Hope House a reality next year.
Hope House will be a state-of-the-art facility that provides a nurturing safe haven for up to 100 girls from Calcutta's red light district to live, go to school, and develop the strength and skills to change their own circumstances. Click here for more information.
Thank you for your support - we are indebted to all of you who have opened your minds and your hearts for Kids with Cameras and the children from Born into Brothels.
Here are some links to help you prepare for your party. We have these documents and this film about Hope House on a Companion DVD that we would be happy to mail anyone interested in hosting.
