New Projects benefit and exhibit opening

April 3, 2007

Kids with Cameras is pleased to announce a collaborative evening with painter Guy Stanley Philoche to unveil new projects by Philoche and Zana Briski, and promote the spirit of Haiti.

Guy Stanley Philoche is a rising star in the art world, whose paintings have been exhibited at Art Gotham Gallery, Zone: Chelsea and 323 Gallery in New York. He participated in the ARTrageous Benefit for the Edwin Gould Services for Children & Families in 2006 with Jeff Koons, Yoko Ono and William Quigley. His work can be found in celebrity and corporate collections throughout the U.S.

Philoche took a special interest in Kids with Cameras because of his Haitian roots. Born in Port-au-Prince, he and his family moved to the U.S. because of the political turmoil of his native country. He is dedicated to supporting the arts as a means of bringing awareness and promoting the talents and spirit of the Haitian people. Through this event, photographs from the Kids with Cameras Haiti project, organized by project director Gigi Cohen, will be on display and available for sale for the first time in the U.S.

The evening will feature:

  • New paintings from the "Untitled" series by Guy Stanley Philoche
  • BROTHEL, Zana's recently released book of photographs from Calcutta's red-light district
  • Images from the Kids with Cameras Haiti workshop

A portion of the proceeds from the evening will go to Kids with Cameras.
